Hi! This is going to be a spontaneous series where I state my favourite three songs that I’ve been listening to for a while and write a little bit of what I feel about them! These songs could be literally anything; old, new, rock, pop, hell – it may even be a nursery rhyme that I’ve been singing with my little brother. So here we go, let’s get #1 underway.
#1: Imagine Dragons – Tiptoe
In truth, I’ve been listening to the whole of Imagine Dragons‘ debut album Night Visions, however this is the song that stands out to me the most. The fluctuations in the vocalist’s voice make it for me, along with the general catchiness of the song. I genuinely cannot help singing (badly) along with the chorus and bobbing my head to the beat; it’s simply infectious.
#2: Mazzy Star – Into Dust
A blast from the past here with Into Dust, one of the most popular releases from alternative duo Mazzy Star. Accompanied only by an acoustic guitar and a violin, Hope Sandoval’s vocals send chills down my spine; they are as haunting as they are beautiful. The lyrics tell a story of emotion and struggle, really hitting hard despite their silky, calm intonation.
#3: The Courteeners – Are You In Love With A Notion
Once again, an album that I’ve been listening to a lot this week, and for good reason. The Courteeners return with a slightly different sound, and what better way to introduce that than Are You In Love With A Notion, the first track on the new album, ANNA. Coupled with the first released single from the album, Lose Control, this album opens up quite nicely in my opinion, contrary to some reviews I’ve seen.
So there you go, I hope that you enjoy the songs and come back to read in a week’s time where I’ll deliver three more songs that I’ve enjoyed!
